Universal Music India released the album of Malayalam film Arike which is based on a famous Bengali short story by Sunil Gangopadhayay. Each song of the film is unique depicting different situations accentuated by the lyricist Shibu Chakravarthy. The music is composed by national award winner Ousephachanand. The film is directed by Shyamaprasad who is known for the classy films he brings out of his shelf on a regular basis.

Shyamprasad, director of Arike said, “The songs of Arike are conceived as a lyrical extension of the lovely background score created by Ouseppachan. The intention was to lay out a binding melodic design around the theme, characters and events of the story.”
He further added, “Five of these songs are derived from five different musical cultures, namely- a Tulu wedding song, a Bhajan, melody inspired from Rabindra Sangeet, darkly grooved Sufi and a romantic Ballad. So the Arike album is rich in variety and colour”.
Ousephachan – music director of Arike said, “It’s a great pleasure that Universal Music Group has entered Malayalam music industry Arike is their first release. The specialty about the songs in Arike is that all the songs are composed after the situations had been pictured which is why the songs are so close to the movie the way the movie is close to the audiences. As music director, myself and director of this movie were so particular about the expression of the songs. I am really proud to be a part of this film Arike, being one of the best ever film I have seen in my career.”
