Jennifer Lopez
Universal
If we go back to Jennifer Lopez’s earlier work (early 2000), she ruled the charts with tracks like – If You Had My Love, Waiting For Tonight, I’m Real and Jenny From the Block. Almost a decade later, it’s great to see her make a comeback (at 41!) with her single One the Floor.
Incidentally, Lopez was dropped by her earlier record label Sony Music as her album sales had dipped then, but her subsequent appearances as a judge in American Idol, and her acting career with roles in films like ‘Shall We Dance?’ and ‘El Cantante’ (and she’s just signed on to ‘Ice Age 4′) put her back in public limelight.
While On the Floor Feat. Pitbull might have the obvious Lamabada hook, it’s definitely tastefully done. But this is not the only song that makes some noise – I’m Into You’ Feat. Lil Wayne, also presents one of the most memorable and infectious hooks on the record. Meanwhile, Papi, just like On the Floor takes the Latin-flavor of the album further. Two songs – Invading My Mind and Hypnotico are JLo’s collaboration with Lady Gaga. While Invading… is an electro-pop club banger, it’s Hypnotico (the second Gaga- and RedOne-penned song) that leaves a lasting impression. It’s safe to say that good old dance music is back!
