Starting 10 July, BBC premieres a new music series called Seven Ages of Rock. The seven episode series explores the music that has been the soundtrack of popular culture and defined each generation since the 1960s.
From the UK electric blues boom, via the psychedelic rock of the late 60s; from the 70s punk explosion and on to the rise of grunge and indie rock in the 80s and beyond, this series tells the story of the music itself – with contributions from some of the biggest names in rock. It will feature artists and bands like The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, The Kinks, The Yard Birds, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, The Police, U2, Nirvana, Oasis and R.E.M among others.
This series is Produced by William Naylor who also has to his credit other music series like Dancing in the Street (on rock ‘n’ roll, 1996.), Walk On By, (on about popsongs, 2001), Lost Highway, on country music, 2003.) Seven Ages of Rock airs Sundays at 8 pm.
